Sludge thickener can play a very important role in the process of sludge treatment. This paper will introduce the problem of flocculant when sludge thickener processes sludge.
There are several ways to add flocculant to the pulp in the sludge thickener. Different methods mean different effects. The method of multi-add flocculant solution is to distribute polymer effectively, so as to shorten the mixing time between flocculant and slurry. The mixed systems are as follows: first, adopting flocculant solution sprayer or tank with flocculating solution nozzle and damper. Second, make a very short stirring before sending to sludge thickener. In this way, flocculant solution can disperse well in the slime water, but the standing time in the reaction area is not shorter than polymer absorption. Therefore, Flocculation group cannot be hindered in terms of formation and growth.
Synthetic flocculant is the most common flocculant that used to treat coal industrial wastewater. This flocculant is based on the derivatives of polyacrylamide. This flocculant based on polyacrylamide has been improved greatly in the aspects of the production process and using, especially in the treatment of foam flotation tailings. As we all know, molecular weight plays a very important role in polymer flocculant effect, which not only influences production cost, but also influences flocculation degree, floccules size and floccules strength. The molecular weight of synthetic polymers is much larger than that of natural products based on starch, and the tailings flocculation obtained by using synthetic polymer has extremely high flocculation degree that natural products cannot achieve.
A large amount of flocculant is required in order to obtain flotation tailings with corresponding characteristics, which can be obtained by using high-molecular polymer. Therefore, the purpose of processing product is to obtain higher molecular weight as the polymer. Creating free radical in the active zone at the beginning of chain growth can increase chain mechanism, so as to make polyacrylamide in the water. What’s more, free radical can be obtained by using a large number of chemical products with triggered effect. At the same time, as mentioned above, the “active” is pass to monomer by initiator, and the increasing chain keeps it to an end. Each chain grows naturally, which can reach10,000 acrylamide units at the end of growth.
All in all, sludge thickener has a lot of attention in other operations, which need us to study in time.
